What do you do when the answers aren't clear?
…especially when you desperately want it to work out and know the how?
Decisions, decisions, decisions…
There are endless possibilities out there, along with a plethora of knowledge and advice you can follow. It’s easy to get lost in all that and confused as to what to actually do. I’ll admit… I have plenty of those moments.
You could also hit a point of decision fatigue, too, when your ability to make a proper aligned decision declines… or fails. Ever have those “ugh, I don’t care anymore. I’m just going to do x” without properly analyzing the situation? Or giving up your right to decide to someone else completely?
It’s even worse when the path forward isn't clear. So what do you do? What can you do when you desperately want things to work out and wish you can know the exact steps to get there?
Have you ever wished you had a crystal ball or someone omniscient who could just tell you what the answer is, what your next move should be, and whether something would work out or not?
C’mon, just help me cut out all the failures, challenges, and need for experimentation, right?
“I just want to be in the best relationship ever naturally with my perfect person right now.”
“I just want my ideal business to be built already and have things running smoothly without much effort while my income continues to multiply.”
“I just want everything to work out perfectly… without all this effort.”
I’ve sought these answers out in so many other ways: I’ve asked people for advice, found coaches and mentors to guide me, got numerous intuitive, astrological, or personality type readings from different modalities, etc.
…and even through all that, I still felt like the path ahead of me wasn’t fully clear. UGH!
I have the direction but the exact how-to-bridge-the-gap between my current reality to that vision was still fuzzy.
Honestly, I was seeking validation to prove (or disprove) my own intuitive and internal feelings. Because, if someone gave me an answer, it still made me wonder… “is that really true… for me?”
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF ADULTING
As children, we often just did what we were told because our parents knew better, right? But as an adult, we're required to think for ourselves and be responsible for our own actions and consequences.
Plus, the older you get, you also realized the “adults” who used to give you answers don't have all the “right” answers for you anymore. Well, they will give you “answers”, but are they really helpful or properly tailored toward your situation? Can you absolutely trust the advice you get will give you the results you desire?
Someone else can never know the full context of what you’re going through. They aren’t you with your specific values, knowledge, experiences, fears, and doubts. So you still have to process their advice and determine whether that’s an effective approach for you.
We're all doing the best we can with what we have and know at this moment. You can only live in the present as you can only take action at this moment in time. You can't change the past, and you don't know the future.
Living in the past creates regret. Living in the future creates anxiety. Neither of those will help you move forward unless you choose to learn from the past and be inspired by the future.
Regardless of what you do, the only way to get an answer is to take action.
Your path becomes clearer as you continue to take more action. Someone else can give you ideas, but you are the only one who can build your own forward path, and you can only build from where you’re at.
IMPERFECT ACTION IS BETTER THAN INACTION
When Amy Porterfield said those words, it felt like the kick-in-the-butt that I needed, especially to quell the internal protest of my inner perfectionist.
You can gather all the knowledge in the world, but all of that is only just information. It becomes wisdom when you transform the knowledge into action.
So, yes, you have to take some sort of action. It's better to have it be imperfectly done than have perfectly nothing at all. Rally the courage to face the fears, doubts, and unknowns that are in your way. Avoidance doesn't bring you answers. Eventually, the discomfort of the snowballing issues will blow up in your face.
It's ok if you don't know the exact how or the right way to approach it. Continual action will eventually reveal answers. You get a result, then tweak accordingly until you get what you desire.
THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX
You cannot think through a problem by being in the same mental and emotional state as when the problem appeared.
You have to grow. You have to think differently. Get help when you need it. You don't have to work through a problem on your own. Never feel like you're alone in the situation. There are plenty of people out there who can relate or at least be a source of comfort to help you through it.
You can always temporarily remove yourself from the situation to clear your mind and reset your emotional state. That pause can be more effective than continually trading blows.
FOCUS ON YOUR DESIRED OUTCOME
Think back to the bigger picture or the greater vision you desire. Refocus back on that, and discover an approach from there.
Your vision is your destination. You need a destination in order for your internal navigation system to tell you where to go next. Else, you're just driving around blind.
I find it helpful to hold onto the vision of what I want, then take action from there as if it were already my reality. Yah, this'll take some practice. But don't you agree that it feels better to approach life from a sense of curious possibilities rather than doomed impossibilities?
You have the power to make the belief in your vision so much stronger than your worries and concerns. It's purely a matter of where you're choosing to place your focus.
So when the answers aren't clear, avoid waiting for the perfect divine moment or seeking someone to tell you the “right” answer. Just start taking action, think outside of the box, and focus on your desired outcome. Eventually, the answers will reveal themselves to you.
Keep your focus on your vision.
Everything is figureoutable.
P.S. If you need help with your vision, feel free to reach out and let’s see how I can support you.
